Welcome to the BASF Wet Lab at Greentown Labs!
Greentown Labs recognizes cleantech and clean energy innovations are happening across sectors -- not just in hardware and software -- but also in water, advanced materials, and green chemistry. That’s why we developed our 1,800 sq. ft. shared wet lab to support climatetech startups working in this space. The space offers members laboratory resources such as fume hoods, biosafety cabinets and chemical storage, and equipment such as incubators, cold storage, and centrifuges, all provided and maintained by Greentown Labs to support the work of its members. The BASF Wet Lab is a BSL-2 Level lab

Wet Lab Operational Manual
Our laboratory is classified as BSL-2, although many of its members will be doing chemistry-based work. Basic laboratory equipment and facilities have been provided by Greentown Labs to support the work of its members. Feedback on improvements to the resources are always welcomed by the Greentown team!
Chemical Hygiene Plan
The Chemical Hygiene Plan (CHP) has been written to comply with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and 29 CFR 1910.1450, the OSHA Lab Standard, whose goal is to protect personnel from health hazards associated with chemicals present in the laboratory. This Chemical Hygiene Plan describes the proper practices, procedures, and equipment to be used in the Wet Lab at Greentown.
Biosafety Manual
Greentown is committed to the prevention of employee exposures to biohazardous materials, including cell lines and biologics to which a member company employee may be exposed as a result of his or her job requirements. In order to reduce or eliminate the hazards of occupational exposure, Greentown has implemented this Biological Safety Manual to provide details on safety guidelines and employee protection measures. This manual explains the use of various engineering and work practice controls, including the use of personal protective equipment, housekeeping requirements, and medical surveillance, as they apply to the work done on-site. Also addressed are the means by which the existence of hazards to employees is communicated, including labels and signs, recordkeeping, and training.
